Frequently Asked Questions

What is a sailplane ash scattering service?

It is a peaceful aerial memorial where a loved one’s remains are released from a high-performance glider, drifting silently on the currents of the sky without the noise of an engine.

How does the scattering process gracefully proceed?

Our sailplane glides naturally using thermal air currents. At a pre-arranged time and location, the ashes are gently released into the atmosphere, becoming part of the vast and beautiful sky.

Is ash scattering from a glider safe and regulated?

Safety is our priority. Flights are conducted by commercial pilots with decades of gliding experience. We operate in full compliance with FAA regulations and local laws regarding aerial memorial services.

Where around Jacksonville do the flights take place?

We operate in the tranquil flight corridors surrounding the Jacksonville area, often soaring above beautiful coastal landscapes or serene inland nature preserves to provide a meaningful backdrop.

What happens if there is poor weather during my schedule?

We monitor conditions closely. If weather prevents a safe or peaceful flight, we will coordinate with you immediately to reschedule for the next available clear-sky window at no extra cost.

What can our family expect on the day of the ceremony?

Families typically gather at the airfield for a warm welcome. You can observe the graceful takeoff and return in the cockpit or on the ground. You may also ship the ashes to be released on your behalf.

Can a family member ride along during the flight?

Yes, we offer a personal 'Ride Along' option for one family member to accompany the pilot in the cockpit, allowing for a deeply intimate and present connection during the ceremony.

Can other family members witness from the ground?

The legal requirements by the FAA state that the scattering must take place over a non-populated area. This area is approximately 4 to 5 miles to the Northwest of the departure airport so viewing from the ground is not feasible.

How can I ship ashes for the flight ceremony?

Our memorial flight ceremony is inclusive and respectul. When shipping remains through the USPS, please follow these guidelines:

Carrier Requirements
In the United States, remains must be shipped via USPS Priority Mail Express. Private carriers like FedEx or UPS do not currently accept these shipments from individuals.

Packaging Instructions
